When are things happening?
Our work has been underway in various stages so far, with the delivery stage set to start later this year before we fully open in 2026.
So far we’ve been:

Making the case – 2003 to 2013 - including visioning, feasibility and surveying work.

Building the momentum – 2014 to 2019 - including masterplanning, business modelling, running events, expanding our volunteer base and staff team, and saving the buildings from collapse.

Attempting (and failing) to get started early, resulting in us having to defer work to the Fossil Forest, Ocknall’s Bridge, Lodge Valley Park and the Machine Shop significantly beyond our intentions – 2017 to 2021.

Achieving funding success and making final preparations including the land deal, planning permissions, and cost checks - 2020 to date.

Our current estimated timelines (for both Roots to Shoots and Stori Brymbo) – see physical works starting during 2024, completing in 2026.
Fully open – 2026 onwards.
