What's our mission and the big plan?
We’re on a mission to save, celebrate and sustainably use the amazing natural, industrial and social heritage of Brymbo and its neighbouring communities.
We’re delivering this through an ethos of being powered and driven by and for local people, whilst stimulating regional, national and world-wide interest and visitor appeal.
Specifically, our aims are to:
-
Arrest the decay suffered by the remaining iron and steel works buildings and structures;
-
Fully restore the fabric of key buildings and structures, allowing them to be re-purposed and used once again;
-
To excavate, conserve and celebrate the 300 million year old fossil forest;
-
To improve the quality, use and perceived value of our ex-industrial open (and now green!) spaces
-
…and use the whole as a focus for community events and activities, for wellbeing, for conservation, for preservation, and for all-age learning.
The trick to pull off is to do all of this within the context of the broader regeneration journey for our community – and hence our links with Brymbo Enterprise Centre, Plas Brymbo Residents’ Association, Broughton Community Partnership, and Brymbo Developments Ltd, to name just a few.
And doing it all sustainably, both in terms of people and money, to ensure the vision and heritage are passed from generation to generation.
